The Radio Clock....

People in radio often often times refer to "the clock", but they are not always referring to the one on the wall.

Most often, radio "clocks" are pie-chart-type diagrams on paper...more like a map, indicating where things are to occur during a broadcast hour.  (My understanding is that in TV they use more of a "rundown sheet".)

Those that know the clock at certain stations can't seem to listen without seeing the clock in their head.  They know when to tune away for commericals and when to tune back for more music, news or talk.  ;-)

Here is a great segment of the public radio show 99% Invisible with a behind the scenes at NPR's All Things Considered and the clock that guides it all.  ;-)
