When Talkradio was King....

-
Many radio fans in Boston remember when talk radio was in it's heyday here at WRKO.

Great talk hosts, like Ted O'Brien, Janet Jaghelian, Gene Burns, Jerry Williams and David Brudnoy all provided compelling conversation.

On this day in 1990, Jerry Williams was discussing the "sneaky method" that slipped a single line into a congressional bill, that only affected one person, Rupert Murdoch (A known Kennedy Nemesis)

Apparently Jerry Williams program got so under the skin that day of Senator Kennedy, that he actually called into the show to "set the record straight". ;-) The result was radio that would keep you sitting in the car well after you pulled into your driveway. ;-)

I was amazed that Jerry Williams kept a respectful tone, always referring to him as Senator, while pressing on with the legislative method used to coerce one-person, a Kennedy nemesis, into not being able to hold onto the Boston Herald, a newspaper that was often critical of the Senator.

Ah, for the good old days of Boston Talk radio!

Give a listen!
