Media, and the new business model......
Some of us have been following the travails of the Boston Globe in their effort to find a new business model, and wondering how it might affect the radio business. Both are affected by the downturn in advertising revenue, and by customer apathy. Both are battling mutliple new platforms for entertainment and information. Both are being hurt by crushing debt.Jerry DelColliano has some thoughts on this in his Inside Music Media blog.
It's Not Nice To Screw the Audience
I've said this many times but it is worth repeating here -- you can't have a growth industry in the media business without the next generation. And, if satellite radio execs were ever looking and learning about their audiences, they would know that the next generation would never pay for music -- they don't like radio -- and that deal is dead.Wednesday, July 08, 2009
