DJ in Ptown Police Scuffle.....

Police blamed for undue force

"PROVINCETOWN — Police have come under heavy criticism for an incident over the weekend in which four officers subdued a disc jockey at a private party, allegedly throwing him against a wall and causing serious facial injuries."

"Boston DJ Barry Scott, who anchors the radio show “Lost 45s with Barry Scott” on CBS radio affiliate FM103.3, was arrested at a 40th birthday party after police had come to the house three times asking him to turn the music down."

Maybe it's me....but if police have to respond to a house THREE times in the same night...you can expect the police to be a little more forceful in their request to "turn the music down". After all, why did they have to respond the second and third time? Did the partygoers ignore the police's requests earlier?

I'll be the first to admit that I don't have the full story.

Howie Carr update...

Howie Carr came back from vacation today.

There was specualtion about whether or not WRKO would let him back on the air, due to his signed contract with WTKK.

Alas, at 3PM today...Howie appeared in his time slot on WRKO.

Every hour he's been reading a "statement" about how he will NOT be discussing on the air his current "situation".

WRKO has stated they intent to keep Howie Carr on board....claiming the contract allows them to renew him for another year, the right-of-first refusal, the 90-day non-compete...and the claim of exclusive bargaining rights.

Howie Carr has responded with a lawsuit against WRKO.

You can find a copy of the complaint here....

Will Howie last on WRKO until September 19th?

Howie Carr Moving to WTKK

"The Carr That Drives Boston Home" is most likely moving from AM to FM; from Guest St. in Brighton to Morrissey Blvd. in Dorchester, and from Entercom to Greater Media.

Sources say Howie Carr, longtime WRKO-AM host, is signing a five-year
deal with Greater Media to be morning drive host on 96.9 FM Talk.

The
Herald
has more details. Supposedly Carr's last WRKO show would be on
Sept 19 and he'd debut on 96.9 FM Talk on Oct. 1. This is considered a huge
blow to WRKO, which is losing a marquee name with high ratings, and
millions of ad dollars could now be migrating to FM.

This is a disaster for WRKO, which now would have its former afternoon host competing in morning drive against Tom Finneran, and a boon to WTKK which now removes Carr from competing against its own Jay Severin--by adding him to the 96.9 FM Talk lineup in mornings.

UPDATE: The Herald reports that Carr is now
suing WRKO
claiming they are preventing him from moving to WTKK.

Adam Reilly of the Boston Phoenix
writes that it's best that Howie
should leave WRKO, which is in a downward spiral.
