Former WFCR/Amherst Reporter Charged In Forgery

While this is blog about Boston radio, I spotted this article and figured some readers might have some interest and contact in Amherst.

Former WFCR/Amherst Reporter Charged In Forgery

Former noncommercial WFCR/AMHERST, MA reporter and NPR freelancer PIPPIN ROSS has been charged with trying to use forged documents to violate her probation on drunk driving charges.

ROSS was convicted of her fourth DUI in FEBRUARY and sentenced to a year in jail and another 1 1/2 years suspended until 2009; the SPRINGFIELD REPUBLICAN reports that BERKSHIRE Superior Court indicted ROSS on OCTOBER 31 with being accessory before the fact in forgery, accessory before the fact in aiding an escape from a jail, conspiracy for forgery, conspiracy to aid an escape from jail and conspiracy in attempting an escape from jail. A co-defendant, ROBERT KELLY, has been hit with similar charges for helping ROSS. The allegations involve ROSS' alleged use of a forged mittimus that would have allowed her to get out of jail early.

One Chick Dishin'....!

Everyone remember Leslie Gold?

She was part of the "Two Chicks Dishin'" show on WRKO awhile back.

Here's the latest on what she's been doing....(From Radio & Records):

Leslie Gold Moves To Afternoons At WXRK/New York

The self-described "Radio Chick" will take over the PM drive slot when WXRK debuts its previously announced move to become "92.3 Free FM" on Jan. 3, 2006.

Gold moves to the Infinity outlet following a brief stint at Sirius. Her radio resume includes stops at WRKO/Boston and New York stations WNEW and WAXQ.

Gold will be joined at WXRK by her longtime collaborators, Butchy Brennan, the show's producer, and sidekick comedian Chuck Nice.

On that note, does anyone know where the other Dishin' Chick, Lori Kramer is these days?

(Or for that matter, Darlene McCarthy, who was partnered with Lori for the 'Chicks' show when Leslie left for NYC.)

Numbers Day...

Phase one on the fall radio rating period is over and the results are in.

You can find them here.

Do you think WEEI's numbers have now peaked until the Spring?

(Unless you think the week of "Theo-gate" is going to help them with Phase two.)

AFTRA Decertification Petition Filed At Entercom/Boston

From AllAccess.com

AFTRA Decertification Petition Filed At Entercom/Boston

ALL ACCESS hears that a petition from staffers at ENTERCOM/BOSTON filed with the NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD seeks to decertify AFTRA as the staff's bargaining unit. The move means that a decertification election will be called in mid-DECEMBER, around DECEMBER 19, unless the NLRB decides otherwise after a NOVEMBER 21 hearing. ENTERCOM sister Talk KIRO-A/SEATTLE staffers voted to decertify AFTRA as their bargaining representative earlier this year.
