Someone in the comments section asked about WBZ's 25-54 #'s.

Thanks to someone "on the inside" who sent me some numbers from the most recent trend.

25-54, all day...WBZ is in 10th place with a 3.6

They were also in 10th place in the Spring book with a 3.8.

Over the past year or so, they have been in 3rd, 5th, 10th, 10th & 8th.

So, while this is down for them, it appears they've been 10th before, but this trend (3.6) is pretty low for them.

Then again, many always suspected that WBZ's #'s were mostly made up of a humongous amount of 55+ folk, who made their 12+ numbers look good.

Elsewhere in the demo.....

AM Drive, WBZ is in 3rd(5.8)
Middays, WBZ is in 17th(!) place(2.1)
PM Drive, WBZ is in 10th place(3.6)
Evenings, WBZ is in 6th place(3.9)

By comparison....

Overall , WRKO is in 14th place(2.6) in the demo.

AM Drive, WRKO is in 13th place(2.6).
Midday, WRKO is in 15th place(2.3).
PM Drive, WRKO is in 5th(!) place(4.5).Evenings
WRKO is in 12th place(3.0)

If anyone else has any ratings info they can send along, I will be sure to keep the source confidential.

Till next time!

In glorious Red, White and Blue...

Some of us knew something was up at the Big 68....

Shake-up at WRKO may be a signal that more changes are in the air

Anyone care to guess what changes are made first?

No Mo Flo....?

The Boston Herald reports today that Flo Jonic, a longtime reporter for that station, was fired after a dispute over a story.

WBZ doesn't go with Flo on story

" Jonic was assigned a story on potential security issues surrounding the FBI's Boston offices at One Center Plaza. She began digging in a week ago and put together what one insider said was a very strong report.
But the FBI told WBZ that reporting such a story would be reckless and could put lives in danger. Indeed, the FBI was antsy enough yesterday that they quizzed me and other Herald editors about what I planned to write about security issues.
That message was sent up the chain of command at WBZ and higher to parent company Viacom's New York offices. And the story stalled.
Jonic responded by sending an electronic message to Program Director Peter Casey and Assistant News Director Paul Connearney – and copied it to the entire newsroom. The message essentially said that they had caved to pressure from the FBI and had lost standing in the newsroom. "

Karen Blake hits the tube....!

Former Star 93.7 (WQSX) morning gal, Karen Blake announced on her web site that she would be appearing on this morning's (Weds) edition of the "The Morning Show" on UPN 38.

Did anyone catch it?

Was it a "try out"?

In any event, she might be a good fit doing the Star Report segment there.

(They had used Greg Danials from Mix 98.5 - WBMX from time to time.)

Spring is in the air....!

In case you hadn't heard, the Spring Arbitron ratings for Boston were released recently.

You can look at the "12+" numbers here.

Your thoughts and commentary are welcome!

I'll post some of my thoughts later....
